Sober October is a friendly challenge game for private groups.
Be cool. Do not post harassment, hateful content, threats, doxxing, sexually explicit content, or anything that targets another person or group.
Users can report concerns or block users from message menus. Blocking hides that participant's user-generated content in the current challenge. Challenge admins may remove users from a challenge. Reported content may be reviewed and removed.
Participating in this challenge is voluntary. This app is for fun and accountability and is not medical advice. Make choices that are safe for you.

Sober October is a social challenge app that lets people create or join challenges, track daily goals, compete with friends, and communicate with other challenge participants.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Sober October collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect information such as:
Email address
Display name
Account authentication information
Passwords are handled through our authentication provider and are not stored by Sober October in readable form.
Challenge and Daily Log Information
When you use Sober October, you may choose to record information including:
Alcohol or drink counts
Exercise activity
Sleep
Reading
Daily notes
Challenge participation
Scores, rankings, and progress
This information is associated with your account and may be visible to other participants in challenges you join, depending on the feature.
User-Generated Content
You may choose to submit content such as:
Challenge chat messages
Comments on Daily Logs
Photos
Reactions and other challenge interactions
Content shared within a challenge may be visible to other participants in that challenge.
Notifications and Device Information
If you enable push notifications, Sober October may collect and store information necessary to deliver notifications, including:
Push notification tokens
Device platform information
Notification preferences and delivery-related information
Reports and Moderation
If you report content or another user, or use moderation features, we may store information about the report, the content involved, and actions taken in response.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
Create and manage your account
Operate Sober October challenges
Calculate scores, rankings, and leaderboards
Display your Daily Logs and challenge activity
Enable chat, comments, photos, and other social features
Send challenge reminders and notifications
Provide account verification and password recovery
Prevent abuse and moderate reported content
Maintain the security and reliability of the app
Provide customer support
Service Providers
Sober October uses third-party services to operate the app.
These currently include:
Supabase
Used for account authentication, databases, file storage, realtime functionality, and server-side services.
Expo and Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)
Used to support app functionality and deliver push notifications.
Resend
Used to send account-related emails such as email verification and password-reset messages.
These providers may process information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services.
Photos
Photos uploaded to Sober October are stored in private cloud storage and are used to provide the photo-sharing features within the app.
Photos are not intended to be publicly accessible outside the relevant app experience.
If you save another user's shared photo to your device, that copy is stored on your device and is outside Sober October's control.
Sharing of Information
Sober October does not sell your personal information.
Information may be shared:
With other participants when you choose to participate in a shared challenge
With service providers necessary to operate the app
When required by law or necessary to protect the security, rights, or safety of users or the service
Your private account credentials are not shared with other challenge participants.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your Sober October account from within the app using Delete Account.
Account deletion removes your authentication account and associated personal data, including user-owned content and uploaded files, subject to technical requirements necessary to safely remove the account.
Some shared challenge records may remain where necessary to preserve the integrity of a challenge for other participants, but identifying references to the deleted account may be removed or anonymized.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures designed to protect user information, including authenticated access controls, database security policies, and private file storage.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
You can:
Choose what information you enter into Daily Logs
Choose whether to upload photos
Enable or disable push notifications through your device settings
Report inappropriate content
Delete your account from within the app
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Sober October changes. When we make changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page.
